Website - Preliminary Work

I have really wanted to re-do my website (as some of you know I run a digital marketing agency) I want to create something simple but that would convey the fact that we're a fun energetic company. The sketches below are a short 4 page website and a quick brief I wrote writing down my main point and colors I wanted to focus on.

The portfolio page would be bright blocks with the clients logo, it would display a case study for each client when scrolled over.

Identity and Branding 2

Here are my final logos, I like how they came out. It took awhile to get the engraved look of the 2nd game logo and ended up using both Photoshop and illustrator to get the look I wanted. I wanted to keep the font the same across all logos to keep the branding consistent.
I really liked the reflection look from the module reading material which is what ultimately inspired the final company logo.

Identity Design & Branding (Part 1)

For the Empire X Logo, I the very first thing that came to my mind was the black and bright green combination. I think the gaming market is a really great excuse to use bright, strong colors. Most gaming companies I thought of use either dark or bright colors. Valve is the first thing that came to mind the steam icon is easily identifiable among gamers and is made up of black and dark blue.
The next thing that inspired me was the computer I am actually working on. I have a gaming laptop myself, it is a black and bright red design.

For my 2 games, I wanted to focus on one logo that included text and 1 that was just a symbol. I am still evolving my idea for the second one. I was thinking about games like Destiny, Mortal Kombat, etc that are so easily identified by just  a symbol. That is something I will strive for with my second design.

Artist Statement

I have always loved Art. I know that is entirely cliche to write, but it is true I remember sitting for hours as a kids drawing and painting. While I would describe myself as basically the opposite as what some may consider an artist, I am type very type A, overly organized and overly scheduled. However, art has always been meditative to me. What I love about it is while people may have pre-conceived notions of what an artist looks like or acts like, art has no requirements other than an open mind. I think art is part of why I love my job (online marketing) every day I get to tell business owners stories through a variety of medium. Photography, videography, digital art, and words. I hope to continue to refine my skills in each of these areas to better capture and tell stories.

You would think having a rigid schedule, I would approach art freely. However, I actually use a lot of the same techniques I keep myself organized with in my artistic process. I have a plan, assess the story I want to tell, then decide the best route for that story (photography, etc) then execute. I know that I am done when the story feels complete.

Currently most of my art happens through my job, Working with brands and businesses to help set up their online presence. While most of the time I have to pass off the art side of job to the professional designers I work with, I am excited to continue to grow my digital skills to becomes more a part of that process.
